The beautiful Isle of Sardinia is located just off the coast of Italy (somewhere between Tuscany and Naples) in the Tyrrhenian Sea.  The weather is usually sunny and warm and the scenery is spectacular. 

In Sardinia, meals are a way of life, a coming together of family and friends, a sharing of freshly produced bounties from both land and sea.  

Like every island, it was a crossroad of many cultures and consequently became a melting pot of flavors and cuisines.  Over time, the Sardinians have put their own slant to these recipes.

Since Sardinia is a large island, it would seem that fish would play a major role in their cuisine. However, since the sea tended to bring invadors to the island, Sardinians looked inland, to their prized pastureland, farmlands and vineyards, for their main sources of foods. 

Lamb and sheep products, in particular Pecorino Sardo (considered to be one of the greatest cheeses), are staples of their diet.  Pork, pasta (Fregola), and fresh grown produce are fixtures of every meal too.  Saffron, another very important inland product, along with lemons, wine and honey infuse intense flavors in their dishes.

So, imagine yourself in a kitchen somewhere on the Isle of Sardinia, with friends and family, cooking some very traditional and delicious dishes.
