Wine Foundation Class: Wine Tasting 102
A Wine Foundation Class
Ever feel like a deer in headlights and tongue-tied every time a sommelier or wine shop salesman approaches with that question “What are you looking for?” The second class in our series will take you on a sensory journey and unlock the key to choosing, storing, opening and serving the right bottle of wine for whatever occasion you choose. We will discuss the basics of wine and Food pairing, TCA or tainted cork, the proper temperature to serve wine, aerating or decanting the wine, the different glass shapes, introduce you to new world vs old world wine making technique and have you understand how a wine ages.
During this class we will be tasting a sparkling wine; a light, medium and full bodied white wine; a new world Syrah and an old world Syrah and compare a young vintage vs an older vintage.
A light snack will be served at the beginning of the class to keep you fortified through the tasting.
